Purpose

The 2024 NIH Global Doctoral Partnerships Research Colloquium will be held on the American University campus in Washington, DC. The student-led Workshop Organizing Committee is working diligently toward its mission to unite Scholars, faculty mentors, leadership, Alliance Board Directors, invited speakers and our distinguished attendees to highlight the achievements and Scholars while providing an opportunity for them to share their insights with the broader research community.

Undeniably the highlight of the academic year, the Colloquium ignites thinking around diverse research, provides fascinating keynote talks, increases exposure to potential career pathways, and hones presentation skills. Please email info@biomedalliance.org for more information.

NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program at the National Institutes of Health & the International Biomedical Research Alliance (IBRA).

When and Where

This event will take place from July 15-17 2024 at the Washington College of Law(WCL), a dedicated conference, event, and reception spaces designed to promote education, collaboration, and engagement. Conveniently located one block from the Tenleytown-AU Redline Metro Station and environmentally sustainable design targeted for LEED Gold certification the campus helps minimize the carbon impact of this event. A Welcome BBQ will be held the evening of July 15th, and the Annual IBRA Awards Gala will follow the evening of July 17th both at the WCL.

Accommodations

Scholars and their Mentors will be hosted in on-campus accommodations. If you have not yet received details, please reach out to the NIH-OxCam office.

Local airports

The Washington College of Law (WCL) is conveniently located near three major airports:

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

Visitors who fly into DCA can conviently take the Yellow Line Metro towards Fort Totten, transfer to the Red Line at Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Station and then take the Red Line towards Shady Grove. Exit at Tenleytown-AU Metro Station.
From Tenleytown-AU Station, you can take a taxi, ride-sharing service, or a bus to reach The Washington College of Law.

Baltimore Washington International (BWI)

Take the free BWI Airport Shuttle to the BWI Marshall Airport Amtrak/MARC Station. From the BWI Marshall Airport Amtrak/MARC Station, take the MARC Penn Line (P) towards Washington Union Station and exit at Union Station. Transfer to the Red Line Metro towards Shady Grove, then exit at Tenleytown-AU Metro Station. From Tenleytown-AU Station, you can take a taxi, ride-sharing service, or a bus to reach The Washington College of Law.

Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Take the Silver Line Express Bus (5A) from the Washington Dulles International Airport to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station. Then take the Silver Line Metro towards Largo Town Center and exit at Metro Center Station. Transfer to the Red Line Metro towards Shady Grove and exit at Tenleytown-AU Metro Station.
From Tenleytown-AU Station, you can take a taxi, ride-sharing service, or a bus to reach The Washington College of Law.

Local transportation

For those in the Washington, DC area, we recommend one of the following travel options:

  • By Metro –Take the Red Line to Tenleytown/AU Metro Station. At the top of the first escalator bear right to take the next escalator to the street level. This will bring you to Wisconsin Avenue next to Best Buy entrance. Turn right and walk down Wisconsin Avenue, cross Albemarle Street, and walk one block to Tenley Circle. At the circle, (St. Ann’s Church on your right) take a right onto Yuma Street and the law school will on your left.

 

  • By Car  In accordance with the university’s Good Neighbor Parking Policy, visitors to the law school may not park in residential streets surrounding the campus including at parking meters.

       

    • Parking: Admissions provides in the RSVP confirmation email an access code for a complimentary parking pass from the kiosk machines located in the garage elevator lobby. If you misplace the code or don’t RSVP in advance, you can also purchase a parking pass for $2.00/hour at at the kiosk. Any car without a pass could be ticketed.Enter the law school garage at 4300 Nebraska Ave. NW. In the garage take an immediate left turn down the ramp to level P2.

    • By Uber/Taxi  Please instruct the driver to drop you off at the Warren Building entrance which is accessible from Nebraska Ave.
