We take pride in recognizing and celebrating the achievements of biomedical researchers at every stage of their careers. Since 2013, our Board of Directors has honored emerging leaders in the NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program through awards presented at our prestigious Annual Awards Gala, which concludes the NIH Global Doctoral Program Annual Research Colloquium.

Graduate Scholarships for UK Universities
Gates-Cambridge
2024 Applications Closed- Open to non-UK citizens applying to PhD, MLitt or 1-year MS programs
- ~80 scholarships/year; ~2/3 PhD scholars
- University Tuition (~ £38K/year) for up to 4 years
- Studying at the University of Cambridge
- Working in the NIH Intramural Program
- Stipend (£20K/year) for up to 4 years
- Settling in allowance
- One round-trip flight at both the beginning and end of the course
- Flights for dependents
- Inbound visa costs & the cost of the Immigration Health Surcharge to access the UK’s National Health Service
- Bench fees, the costs of scientific equipment, or similar academic resources
Rhodes
2024 Applications Closed- Open to US citizens and those of ~20 participating countries
- ~100 scholarships/year; ~1/2 DPhil Scholars
- University Tuition (~ £32K/year) for up to 3 years
- Studying at the University of Oxford
- Working in the NIH Intramural Program
- Stipend (~£19K/year) for up to 3 years
- Settling in allowance
- One economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course
- Flights for dependents
- Inbound visa costs & the cost of the Immigration Health Surcharge to access the UK’s National Health Service
- Bench fees, the costs of scientific equipment, or similar academic resources
Marshall
2024 Applications Closed- Open to US citizens applying to graduate programs at an eligible UK university
- ~50 scholarships/year
- Studying at a qualified UK University
- Working in the National Institutes of Health Intramural Program
- – Student designed, dual-mentored PhD projects
- University Tuition (~£38K/year) for up to 3 years
- Stipend (~£17K/year) for up to 3 years
- Settling in allowance
- Access to reduced-cost student housing at NIH main campus
- One round-trip flight at both the beginning and end of the course
- University Tuition (up to £38K/year) for 4 years
- Stipend ($40-60K/year) 4 years; insitution-dependent stipend for MD years

- Annual round-trip flights to US and UK and as-needed by research projects

- ~24 scholarships/year; 4-6 MD/PhD Scholars
- Studying at the University of Cambridge or University of Oxford (Scholars choose)
- Working in the National Institutes of Health Intramural Program
- Student designed, dual-mentored PhD projects
- University Tuition (up to £38K/year) for 4 years
- Stipend ($40-60K/year) 4 years; insitution-dependent stipend for MD years
